Iago Mountain

This is a great snowshoe trip. The trail is not steep, much more remote than the local North Vancouver mountains.

We've only snowshoed this trail. We've heard that a lot of the trails in this area are not really doable when they are not covered in snow due to dense bushes. This might be one of those.

This trail starts off in a parking lot right off the Coquihalla. There are flushing toilets in the lot. The trail is visited by backcountry skiers pretty regularly, so there are usually ski trails you can follow.

The trail is a step up from the common snowshoe trails in North Vancouver, but still pretty easy. You will get several views of the peaks which are all around you. Even in the parking lot, you will have a great view.

Due to the low grade of the trail, and the fact that you are going up a ridge for a lot of the trail, this is one of the safer trails during higher avalanche risk conditions. That being said, we recommond you exercise extreme caution when in the backcountry in snow and we highly recommend getting AST certified.
