Norvan Falls

Norvan Falls is a waterfall approximately 20 meters tall in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park. The trail to get here is long, but otherwise very easy. It is rated moderate only because of the distance.

The first time we hiked this trail we actually jogged most of it. Every other time we’ve been there we continued on to do a longer hike from there (Hanes Valley or Coliseum/Burwell). So we don’t know exactly how long this hike would normally take. Our best guess would be about 5 hours for the return trip going at a decent walking speed.

Along the way on the trail, you will see remnants of the logging days. This entire valley was clear cut a while back. Around the 4km mark you will get to a large opening where you can easily get down to Lynn creek. It's worth the few extra steps to have a look. When you are ready to proceed to the waterfalls, go up the hill at this opening and you will see a sign pointing you towards the waterfalls. The rest of the trail can get pretty muddy in the wet season. You will reach a wooden bridge which is just a large log with a handrail added to it. It's a very neat bridge.

Right at the 7km mark there will be a sign to turn right to get to the falls. It's about 200 meters to the east now. The waterfalls are quite nice and can be quite busy. There is a small pool at the bottom of them. We’ve never gone in, but we’ve seen others. Be very careful because it can be slippery. People have gotten seriously hurt and even died here.

When you are ready to head back, at the 7km mark where you turned for the waterfalls, if you continue down the trail a very short distance, there is a metal cable bridge that is worth the short detour to checkout.

We don’t have any good pictures of this hike, but we plan on going back soon just to get better pictures for the site.
